Jacqueline Dixon received her bachelor's and master's degrees in Geology from Stanford University in 1981 and 1983, and her Ph.D. in Geochemistry from the California Institute of Technology in 1992. She is Professor and former Dean at the College of Marine Science, University of South Florida. Her research focuses on Earth’s deep carbon dioxide and water cycles that provide background levels of CO2 to the atmosphere and the role of volatiles in magmatic processes through the study of submarine volcanoes from mid-ocean ridges and oceanic islands, including Hawaii, the Galapagos, and Iceland. She is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, serves on the Advisory Board for the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, and served as Chair of the Executive Board of the Consortium for Ocean Leadership.
