Rob Ellison

Director of Research and Development, Sea-Bird Scientific

Rob Ellison is a seasoned technologist and strategist within the water industry with 25 years of experience in developing innovative water sensors, instruments, and monitoring platforms. Currently Rob serves as Director of Research & Development for Sea-Bird Scientific, the global leader in sensing systems for physical, chemical, and biological parameters in the ocean. Prior to this Rob served as VP of Technology & Strategy of Xylem’s  Analytics Division, a division that included businesses such as YSI, Aanderaa, WTW, and Sontek. Rob's passion and focus throughout his career is in the development of in situ sensing technologies that enable higher spatial and temporal resolution data as well as integrated monitoring systems, including autonomous platforms, and sensing networks. Rob has a Masters in biological oceanography from Old Dominion University and a BSc in biology with a concentration in marine science from Boston University.
