Andrea McCurdy
Andrea McCurdy has worked with NASA’s Oceanography Program since 1992 and has an extensive background in global ocean observing strategies and project management. Currently she works with NASA’s Physical Oceanography Program to bridge the gap between the satellite recommendations made at the Ocean Obs ’19 conference, and the requirements being taken up by the UN Decade for Sustainable Ocean Science. She has worked since 2012 with Global Ocean Observing Strategy (GOOS) to assist with the adoption and maturation of The Framework for Ocean Observing (Framework). She has worked as a Contract Officer Technical Representative (COTR) with NSF’s Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI) and Sr. Project Manager for GOOS Projects, the Tropical Pacific Observing Strategy (TPOS) 2020 and the Deep Ocean Observing Strategy (DOOS). Prior to her work in the ocean science arena, Andrea worked in the high-technology industry fulfilling a range of product management, technology development, and market analysis functions. Her area of expertise was in cooperative computing, and enterprise architecture planning and implementation.
