Kruti Desai is the Program Specialist for the Integrated Ocean Observing Committee (IOOC). In her role, she supports federal coordination of the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS), which is the U.S. contribution to the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). Her experience includes working with the Ocean Conservancy's Government Relations team, consulting as a laboratory analyst on bacterial contaminants and biological/chemical oxygen demand, and contributing efforts to other various marine and environmental science activities.
Her educational background includes a Master's degree in Marine Biology from Nova Southeastern University's Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography, where her research focused on microplastics and persistent toxin pollution. She also holds a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Mercer University.
